In Mexico I met the architect Barragán. I was impressed with his work because of his closeness to nature. His garden is contained by a high wall, terrain and foliage remains untouched, such as he found them. In the garden, there is a fountain consisting of a water dump, a stake slips slightly recessed and drip, pours a black stone basin filled to the brim. Each drop was like a silver strand, a silver ring that overflowed the surface and fell to the ground. The water in the container was black as a portion of the course of a mountain stream, spilling over the rocks and ending in the deep solitude where his money was at last revealed. Barragan learned from water and chose from it what he liked best. His home is not just a house,but the house itself. Anyone could feel it his own.
